Skin boosters are injectable treatments that aim to improve hydration and support skin quality, for skin that looks fresher, smoother and naturally revitalised. Sometimes you don’t want to change the shape of your face. You just want your skin to look healthier.
At Blue Light Dental & Aesthetics in Archway, N19, skin booster treatments are led by Dr Monika Laczna and planned around your skin, not a one-size-fits-all package. The goal: fresh, hydrated, healthy-looking skin, while still looking completely like you.

Better skin, not a different face
Skin boosters are designed to improve hydration and skin quality rather than create the volume or contouring associated with dermal fillers. They can be considered when skin starts to look dull, dehydrated or less smooth, and they can be combined with other skin treatments.

The skin boosters we may use
Different skin boosters suit different skin and different areas. We’ll recommend one product, or a combination, after assessing your skin.
Profhilo
Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid injectable with a high concentration of HA. Rather than staying in one spot, it spreads through the tissue to hydrate and improve skin quality across a wider area, including the face, neck and décolletage. It’s typically given as two sessions around four weeks apart, followed by maintenance.
Sunekos
Sunekos combines hyaluronic acid with a blend of amino acids, the building blocks the skin uses to make collagen and elastin. It’s often used for delicate areas such as under the eyes, around the mouth and on the neck, and is usually given as a short course of sessions about a week apart.
Restylane Skinboosters
Restylane Skinboosters use a fine, stabilised hyaluronic acid placed into the skin with very small injections, to improve hydration, smoothness and elasticity in areas such as the face, neck, décolletage and hands.

Are there risks?
Yes. As with any injectable treatment, skin boosters carry potential risks and side effects, from bruising and swelling to, rarely, infection or a reaction to the product. We discuss these at your consultation so you can make an informed decision.

Skin booster FAQs
Are skin boosters the same as filler?
Not quite. Dermal fillers are mainly used to restore volume or shape contours. Skin boosters focus on hydration and skin quality and aren’t designed to add significant volume, even though some contain hyaluronic acid too.
Will skin boosters change my face?
The aim is to improve how your skin looks and feels, not to alter your facial shape. The aim is fresher, more rested-looking skin.
What’s the difference between Profhilo, Sunekos and Restylane Skinboosters?
Profhilo spreads through the tissue to hydrate and improve skin quality across a wider area. Sunekos combines hyaluronic acid with amino acids and is often chosen for delicate areas such as around the eyes. Restylane Skinboosters deliver fine hyaluronic acid into the skin to improve hydration and smoothness. We’ll recommend the option, or combination, that suits your skin.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the product and your skin. Most skin boosters start with a short course, for example two sessions a month apart for Profhilo, followed by maintenance. We’ll explain your recommended plan at consultation.
When will I see results?
Hydration can improve fairly quickly, but the fuller improvement in skin quality usually builds over the weeks after your course.
Is there downtime?
Small raised bumps at the injection points are normal and usually settle within hours to a few days, sometimes longer around the eyes. Mild redness, tenderness or bruising can occur. Most people return to work the same day.
Who isn’t suitable for skin boosters?
Skin boosters aren’t recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there’s an active skin infection in the treatment area. Some medical conditions and medications need discussing first, so we take a full history at consultation.
