Skin Boosters in Archway, North London
Skin boosters are injectable treatments that work at a deep dermal level to restore hydration, improve skin quality and stimulate the skin’s own regenerative processes — producing a lit-from-within radiance without altering your features. At Blue Light Dental & Aesthetics, we offer two of the most clinically advanced skin booster treatments available: Profhilo and Sunekos, administered by a registered dental clinician with specialist aesthetic training.
Appointments take approximately 45 minutes. We treat patients from Archway, Holloway, Tufnell Park, Highbury and across North London N19, N7 and N4.
What Are Skin Boosters — and How Are They Different from Fillers?
Dermal fillers add volume and contour to specific areas. Skin boosters work differently — they target the quality of the skin itself, not its shape. They do not add structure or volume. Instead, they rehydrate the dermis, stimulate collagen and elastin production, and improve the skin’s texture, elasticity and luminosity from within. The result is healthier, more radiant skin — not a different face.
Profhilo — Skin Remodelling with Ultra-High Concentration HA
Profhilo is a pioneering injectable skin remodelling treatment containing one of the highest concentrations of pure hyaluronic acid (64mg in 2ml) of any injectable product on the market. It is not a filler and it is not a standard skin booster — it is a bio-remodelling agent.
Profhilo uses a patented NAHYCO technology that combines high and low molecular weight HA in a stable hybrid complex. When injected, it disperses through the tissue rather than staying localised, hydrating a wide area of skin from within and triggering what is known as the bio-stimulation of four types of collagen and elastin. This is what gives Profhilo its uniquely dual action: it hydrates deeply and it remodels the tissue structure.

What Profhilo treats
- Dehydrated, dull or lacklustre skin
- Fine lines and crepey skin texture
- Loss of skin firmness and elasticity
- Sagging skin in the lower face, neck and décolletage
- Skin quality decline associated with ageing or environmental exposure
The Profhilo protocol
Profhilo is administered via 5 precise injection points on each side of the face — the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) protocol — which are carefully positioned to allow optimal dispersion through the tissue. The standard course is two sessions, four weeks apart. Results become visible at 4–6 weeks and last approximately 6 months. A single maintenance session every 6 months is typically recommended thereafter.
Sunekos — Amino Acid and Hyaluronic Acid Regeneration
Sunekos is a patented injectable formula combining hyaluronic acid with a specific blend of amino acids — glycine, L-proline, L-hydroxyproline, L-leucine, L-valine and L-lysine. This combination is clinically validated to stimulate fibroblasts — the cells in the dermis responsible for producing collagen and elastin — to regenerate the extracellular matrix (ECM). This is what makes Sunekos distinct: it does not simply hydrate skin or fill volume; it actively promotes the regeneration of the skin’s own structural proteins.
Sunekos 200 vs Sunekos 1200
There are two Sunekos formulas, often used in combination:
- Sunekos 200 — a lighter formula ideal for delicate areas such as under the eyes, the lips and the neck. Well-suited to younger skin or patients in the early stages of skin quality decline
- Sunekos 1200 — a higher-concentration formula for more significant laxity, deeper lines and more pronounced loss of elasticity. Often used in combination with Sunekos 200 in the same session
What Sunekos treats
- Under-eye hollowing and shadowing (periorbital area)
- Fine perioral lines (around the mouth)
- Skin laxity on the face, neck, décolletage and hands
- Loss of elasticity and firmness
- Overall skin quality decline
- Acne scarring and uneven skin texture (with a course of treatment)
The Sunekos protocol
A standard Sunekos course consists of four sessions, one week apart, followed by maintenance every 3–6 months. Some patients see a noticeable improvement after just two sessions. The ECM regeneration continues to build for several weeks after the course completes, with the best results typically visible at 4–6 weeks post-course.
Profhilo vs Sunekos — Which Is Right for You?
Both treatments improve skin quality, but they work differently and suit different concerns. Your clinician will assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate option — or a combination of both.
- Choose Profhilo if your primary concern is dehydration, general skin dullness or crepiness, or mild-to-moderate loss of firmness. Profhilo’s rapid and widespread dispersion makes it particularly effective for overall skin remodelling across a large area
- Choose Sunekos if your concerns include specific areas of laxity, under-eye hollowing, perioral lines, skin texture issues or if you want to target ECM regeneration at a cellular level
- Combine both for comprehensive skin rejuvenation — many patients begin with a Profhilo course for the remodelling foundation and add Sunekos for targeted areas and deeper regeneration
Who Is a Good Candidate for Skin Boosters?
- Patients with dehydrated, dull or lacklustre skin at any age
- Those noticing early or established loss of skin firmness and elasticity
- Patients with fine lines, particularly in delicate areas (around eyes, lips, neck)
- Those wanting to improve skin quality without changing facial structure or volume
- Patients wanting to complement anti-wrinkle or filler treatment with improved skin condition
- Patients preparing for a special event and wanting a deep radiance boost
Skin boosters are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. A full medical consultation is carried out before any treatment.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Consultation
Your clinician will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and recommend the most appropriate treatment and protocol. Both products and the rationale for the recommendation will be explained clearly.
Preparation
A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area prior to injection. The skin is then thoroughly cleansed.
Treatment (30–40 minutes)
The product is administered via a series of small, precise injections using ultra-fine needles. Most patients find the sensation minimal to mild. Some areas — particularly around the eyes and lips — are more sensitive.
Immediately after
You may notice small raised bumps at injection sites — this is normal and resolves within a few hours for Sunekos and up to 24 hours for Profhilo (due to its thicker consistency).
Aftercare
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and swimming on the day of treatment. Avoid touching or pressing the treated area for 24 hours. Makeup can be applied the following day.
Results — What to Expect and When
- Profhilo (standard course of 2 sessions): Visible improvement in skin texture and radiance at 4–6 weeks. Results last approximately 6 months. Maintenance every 6 months recommended
- Sunekos (course of 4 sessions): Progressive improvement building through the course. Best results visible at 4–6 weeks post-course. Maintenance every 3–6 months depending on individual response
Combining Skin Boosters with Other Treatments
- Anti-wrinkle injections — relax expression lines while skin boosters improve the skin quality layer above. Highly complementary
- Dermal fillers — address structural volume loss while skin boosters improve the surface quality of the skin. A popular combination for comprehensive rejuvenation
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Profhilo and a dermal filler?
Dermal fillers add volume, shape and contour to specific areas. Profhilo does not add volume — it disperses through the tissue to hydrate and bio-remodel the skin at a cellular level. The effects are felt in skin quality rather than structure.
What makes Sunekos different from other skin boosters?
Sunekos contains a specific combination of six amino acids alongside hyaluronic acid. This formulation is clinically validated to stimulate fibroblasts to regenerate the extracellular matrix — the structural scaffolding of the skin — producing new collagen and elastin. Most other skin boosters primarily hydrate; Sunekos also actively drives tissue regeneration.

Is there downtime?
Minimal. Small injection-site bumps are normal and resolve within hours (Sunekos) to 24 hours (Profhilo). Mild redness is common for a few hours. Most patients return to work the same day.
How many sessions do I need?
For Profhilo, the standard course is two sessions, four weeks apart. For Sunekos, four weekly sessions are recommended. Your clinician will advise the appropriate maintenance schedule based on your individual response.
Can skin boosters be combined in the same session?
Yes — Profhilo and Sunekos can be used in the same session or in alternating sessions, depending on your treatment protocol. Your clinician will design the most appropriate plan for your goals.
Who is not suitable for skin boosters?
Skin boosters are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for patients with active skin infections in the treatment area. Patients with certain autoimmune conditions should discuss suitability with their clinician at consultation.
