Microneedling in Archway, North London

Support your skin’s natural renewal.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment that stimulates the skin’s natural repair processes and supports the production of collagen and elastin. By creating controlled micro-injuries at carefully chosen depths, it encourages the skin to repair and remodel itself over time.

It may help improve the look of fine lines, uneven texture, enlarged pores and certain types of scarring. Rather than changing the shape of your face, microneedling focuses on the quality of your skin. Treatments take place in our clinical treatment rooms on Holloway Road, Archway.

What is microneedling?

Collagen gives the skin structure and support. As we age, collagen production changes and the skin can gradually become thinner, less firm and less resilient.

Microneedling uses a professional device with very fine sterile needles to create controlled, microscopic channels in the skin. These start the skin’s natural wound-healing response, which includes collagen and elastin production and tissue remodelling. The depth and intensity are adjusted to the area, your skin and what we’re treating. The aim isn’t to damage the skin unnecessarily. It’s a measured regenerative response that supports gradual improvement in skin quality.

What can microneedling help with?

  • Fine lines
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Enlarged or visible pores
  • Acne scarring and certain other scars
  • Mild changes in skin firmness
  • Dull, tired-looking or uneven skin
  • Age-related changes in skin quality

It can be used on selected areas of the face and, where appropriate, other areas of the body. Not every skin concern is best treated with microneedling, and your consultation helps us decide whether it, or another approach, suits you.

Who is microneedling for?

Microneedling may suit you if your main concern isn’t volume or expression lines but the texture, quality and overall look of your skin. It appeals to people who want a treatment that works with the skin’s own repair mechanisms rather than changing facial proportions, and it can be one part of a wider facial rejuvenation plan.

Your microneedling journey

  1. DiscoverWe look at your skin, what you’ve noticed, previous treatments, skincare, medical history and medication. Most importantly, why your skin looks the way it does.
  2. PlanDifferent concerns need different approaches. Treatment for general skin quality is planned differently from treatment for acne scarring.
  3. TreatThe device is passed systematically across the area, with depth and intensity set for your plan. Afterwards skin is usually red and warm.
  4. RenewTreatment doesn’t finish when you leave. Collagen formation and remodelling happen gradually over the following weeks.
  5. ReviewWe assess how your skin has responded and whether more treatment would help. Photos can track progress over time.

The treatment begins in the clinic. Your skin does the work afterwards.

Microneedling for acne scarring

Improving texture, not erasing history. Acne scarring can affect the texture and contour of the skin long after active acne has settled. Microneedling may improve the look of certain types of acne scars by encouraging collagen remodelling. But acne scars vary considerably. Some respond well, while deeper, tethered or differently shaped scars may need another treatment or a combination approach. Active acne and other inflammatory conditions also need to be considered first. The honest aim is improvement, not a promise of complete removal.

Skin quality is part of the bigger picture

Facial rejuvenation isn’t only about volume, lines or contours. Healthy-looking skin makes a big difference to the face as a whole. Microneedling may improve skin quality, while other treatments may suit other concerns, such as Sculptra for volume and support, skin boosters for hydration or polynucleotides for delicate skin. Your plan should reflect what your skin and face actually need.

When will I see results?

You may notice your skin looks and feels better once the early redness settles, but collagen remodelling takes time and changes continue to develop over the weeks after treatment. For acne scarring or more established texture changes, a series of treatments may be recommended, with results building across the programme. Individual responses vary and no treatment can guarantee a particular outcome.

Downtime and aftercare

Redness is expected straight after microneedling. Your skin may feel warm, tight or sensitive, with mild swelling. Some people have temporary dryness, flaking or pinpoint marks as the skin recovers. The recovery time depends on the treatment intensity and your skin.

Your skin barrier is temporarily more vulnerable, so aftercare matters. Your personalised instructions may include avoiding certain active skincare ingredients, heat, strenuous exercise and swimming for a short time. Consistent sun protection is especially important, and you should only apply products we’ve recommended in the first days after treatment.

Is microneedling safe?

Microneedling is a clinical skin procedure and should only be carried out after proper assessment, with suitable equipment and infection control. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, dryness and irritation can occur. Less common complications include infection, prolonged inflammation, pigmentation changes, scarring or a flare of certain skin conditions. It may not be appropriate if you have an active skin infection, an inflammatory skin condition, problems with wound healing, or take certain medications. Your individual risks and suitability are discussed before treatment.

Microneedling FAQs

Does microneedling hurt?

Some discomfort is normal, particularly with deeper treatment. It varies with the area and intensity, and we can discuss comfort measures, such as numbing cream, beforehand.

How many treatments will I need?

There’s no universal number. A course is often recommended, especially for acne scarring or established texture changes, while some concerns need fewer sessions. Your plan depends on your skin, your goals and how you respond.

Can microneedling help acne scars?

It may improve the look of certain types of acne scarring. Acne scars vary a lot, so assessment matters before deciding whether microneedling is the right treatment, or part of a combination.

Will I be red afterwards?

Yes, redness is expected and often looks like sunburn. How intense it is and how long it lasts depends on your skin and the treatment depth.

When can I wear make-up?

We’ll give you specific advice after treatment. Make-up and potentially irritating skincare usually need to be avoided during the early recovery period.

Can microneedling be combined with other treatments?

For suitable patients it can form part of a wider skin or facial rejuvenation plan. Treatments are chosen and timed carefully, not automatically combined.

Is microneedling suitable for everyone?

No. Some skin conditions, medical circumstances and medications mean treatment isn’t appropriate, or should be postponed. Active acne, skin infections and a history of poor wound healing are examples. Suitability is confirmed at your consultation.

Start with your skin

You don’t need to decide whether microneedling is right for you before you come in. Tell us what you’d like to improve. We’ll assess your skin, talk through the options and decide together whether microneedling is appropriate.
