Radiesse in Archway, North London

Restore support. Stimulate collagen. Stay naturally you.

Radiesse is an injectable treatment that gives structural support while also stimulating your skin’s own production of collagen and elastin. For the right patient, it can be part of a considered approach to facial rejuvenation, particularly where support, contour or skin quality have started to change.

Its active component, calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), works differently from traditional hyaluronic acid fillers. At our Archway clinic, our approach always begins with your face, not the product.

What it isCalcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a gel carrier
How it worksImmediate support from the gel, then gradual collagen and elastin stimulation
Can be used forContour and definition, or diluted for skin quality and firmness

What is Radiesse?

As we age, changes happen not just in the skin but in the deeper structures that support the face. Collagen and elastin production slows, facial volume is redistributed and contours can gradually soften.

Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel. Used for the right indication, the gel can give an initial corrective effect. The CaHA particles then act as a scaffold in the tissue and stimulate new collagen and elastin. Over time, both the gel and the particles are gradually broken down by the body. The result combines immediate structural support with progressive biostimulation.

What can Radiesse help with?

Depending on your anatomy and assessment, Radiesse may be considered for:

  • Loss of facial definition or changes in contour
  • Reduced structural support and lower-face changes
  • Jawline definition
  • Selected areas of facial volume change
  • Changes in skin firmness and quality
  • Age-related changes in the backs of the hands, where appropriate

How Radiesse is used should always be decided by the clinical indication. Radiesse isn’t appropriate for every patient or every area of the face, which is why a facial assessment comes first.

Radiesse for skin quality

Not every Radiesse treatment is meant to add noticeable volume. In selected patients it can be diluted or hyperdiluted and used mainly as a biostimulator, to encourage collagen and elastin and improve skin quality and firmness rather than change facial contours. This may be considered where skin laxity or declining skin quality is the main concern.

Your Radiesse journey

  1. DiscoverWe look at what has changed across your face: proportions, support, volume and skin quality, plus your history and goals.
  2. PlanWe decide where treatment is appropriate, how Radiesse should be used, and whether another treatment would do better.
  3. TreatRadiesse is placed strategically. Where it’s used for support, some improvement can be visible straight away.
  4. DevelopCollagen and elastin form gradually afterwards, so your result keeps evolving.
  5. ReviewWe reassess your response and facial balance. More treatment is only suggested if it will genuinely help.

Support can begin at treatment. Rejuvenation continues afterwards.

No single treatment is automatically better. The right choice depends on your anatomy, your skin, how much has changed and what we’re trying to achieve. We choose the treatment for your face. We don’t adapt your face to the treatment.

When will I see results?

When Radiesse is used for structural support, an initial improvement may be visible straight away. The biostimulatory part develops more gradually as collagen and elastin form, so your final outcome is judged over time, not just on the day. Individual responses vary.

Is there downtime?

Some temporary effects are expected, such as redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising or discomfort at injection sites. How much and for how long varies between patients and by area. You’ll receive specific aftercare instructions.

Understanding the risks

Radiesse is a medical injectable treatment. Alongside common temporary effects, complications can include infection, inflammation, nodules or other unwanted tissue reactions. Rare but potentially serious complications can occur if injected material enters or compromises a blood vessel. Depending on the location, vascular complications can cause tissue injury and, in rare cases, visual impairment.

Your individual risks, any reasons treatment wouldn’t be suitable, and alternative options are discussed before you decide. Knowing when not to inject is as important as knowing how.

Radiesse FAQs

Is Radiesse a dermal filler?

Radiesse is an injectable containing calcium hydroxylapatite. It can give structural correction in suitable areas while also stimulating collagen and elastin. It behaves differently from hyaluronic acid fillers.

Is Radiesse a biostimulator?

Yes. Calcium hydroxylapatite has biostimulatory properties, which means it can encourage your skin to form new collagen and elastin.

Will Radiesse make my face look fuller?

Not necessarily. It depends on how and why it’s used. Sometimes structural support is the aim; other times a diluted preparation is used mainly to improve skin quality and firmness, with little added volume.

Can Radiesse be dissolved?

No. Radiesse isn’t a hyaluronic acid filler, so it can’t be dissolved with the enzyme used to reverse those fillers. That’s why careful planning, patient selection and precise placement matter so much.

Is Radiesse better than Sculptra?

Neither is better overall. They contain different materials and behave differently. Your consultation helps decide which approach, if either, suits you.

How many treatments will I need?

There’s no standard programme. It depends on your anatomy, what we’re trying to achieve and how you respond. We reassess before recommending anything further.

Can Radiesse be used on the hands?

In suitable cases, Radiesse can be considered for age-related changes in the backs of the hands. We’d assess this at your consultation.

Start with your face
