Sculptra in Archway, North London

Gradual rejuvenation. Naturally you.

Sculptra is a collagen-stimulating injectable treatment for gradual, natural-looking facial rejuvenation. Rather than filling individual lines or creating an instant change, it works by encouraging your body to produce its own collagen over time.

It can suit people who’ve noticed changes in facial volume, support or skin quality and would prefer a progressive approach. At our Archway clinic, every Sculptra plan begins with a full facial assessment with Dr Monika Laczna, so we understand what has changed and whether Sculptra is the right treatment for you.

What is Sculptra?

As we age, natural collagen production slows and the deeper structures of the face gradually change. This can affect facial volume, skin firmness and overall facial shape.

Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible material that acts as a collagen stimulator. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, which can give more immediate volume in a specific area, Sculptra works progressively: the change develops as new collagen forms. For the right patient, that means a subtle result that builds over time instead of an obvious overnight difference.

What can Sculptra help with?

Sculptra may be considered when age-related changes have reduced facial support, changed volume or softened facial contours. Depending on your assessment, it may help with:

  • Loss of facial volume and support
  • Changes in facial contours
  • Hollowing in suitable areas, such as the temples
  • Changes in the cheeks, mid-face and lower face
  • Overall facial rejuvenation as part of a wider plan

Sculptra isn’t simply used to fill individual lines. We look at how the different areas of your face relate to one another and where collagen stimulation may help most. A whole-face assessment doesn’t mean treating your whole face. It means understanding it before making recommendations.

Who is Sculptra for?

Sculptra may appeal if you’ve started to notice your face looks different but you don’t want an immediate or obvious change. Perhaps your face feels less full, less supported or more tired-looking than it used to. Sculptra may be considered if you:

  • Want subtle, progressive facial rejuvenation
  • Have noticed age-related changes in facial volume
  • Would like to support your natural collagen production
  • Prefer a gradual result to an instant one
  • Are looking for a longer-term approach rather than frequent top-ups

Sculptra isn’t suitable for everyone. Your medical history, facial anatomy, skin and goals are all assessed before we recommend it.

Your Sculptra journey

  1. DiscoverWe don’t start with “where should we inject?” We start with “what has changed?” and assess your face as a whole.
  2. PlanThere’s no standard Sculptra plan. Some patients need focused treatment, others a broader approach, often across more than one visit.
  3. TreatSculptra is placed carefully into selected areas. Any fullness straight afterwards is mostly fluid and settles.
  4. DevelopThe real change happens afterwards, as your body builds new collagen over the following weeks and months.
  5. ReviewWe compare your progress with your baseline photos and decide together whether more treatment would genuinely help.

The aim is not to use as much product as possible. It’s to use the right amount for a balanced, natural-looking result. Sometimes the most sensible decision at review is simply to let your collagen response keep developing.

Sculptra or dermal filler?

Both can play a role in facial rejuvenation, but they work differently.

SculptraHyaluronic acid dermal filler
Main roleStimulates your own collagenAdds volume, contour or support directly
When you see changeGradually, over weeks and monthsMostly straight away
Best suited toProgressive, whole-face supportPrecise correction in a specific area
Can it be dissolved?NoUsually, with an enzyme

For some patients Sculptra is the better approach. For others, dermal filler is more appropriate. Some plans use different treatments at different stages. The decision begins with your face, not the product.

We treat faces, not trends

We don’t believe every hollow needs filling or every sign of ageing needs correcting. Ageing is normal, and the purpose of treatment isn’t to remove every trace of it. Instead, we identify the changes that matter most to you and consider whether careful treatment could improve facial balance while keeping your individual features.

Rested. Refreshed. Balanced.

How long does Sculptra last?

Because Sculptra stimulates collagen rather than simply adding volume, results can be long-lasting, although they aren’t permanent. How long you notice the benefit depends on your individual response, your treatment plan and natural ageing. We’ll talk through realistic expectations after your assessment.

Is there downtime?

As with other injectable treatments, temporary swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising can occur. These usually settle, though recovery varies between people. You’ll get clear aftercare instructions, and we’ll explain the potential risks, side effects and complications before you decide whether to go ahead.

Assessment before treatment

We don’t recommend Sculptra simply because someone asks for it. First we need to understand your face. Your consultation considers five questions:

Your anatomy

Where has facial support or volume changed?

Your skin

Would improving skin health be an important part of your plan?

Your concerns

What have you actually noticed, and what matters to you?

Your expectations

What would a successful result look like to you?

Your options

Is Sculptra the most appropriate treatment, or would another approach do better?

Sculptra FAQs

Is Sculptra a filler?

Sculptra is different from traditional hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. It contains poly-L-lactic acid and is used to stimulate your own collagen production, so results develop gradually rather than all at once.

When will I see results?

Sculptra works progressively. Collagen takes time to form, so changes build over the weeks and months after treatment rather than appearing on the day.

Will I look overfilled?

Our approach is built on facial balance and gradual rejuvenation, not unnecessary volume. Treatment is planned around your anatomy and reviewed before anything more is added.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies. Sculptra is usually planned as a short course rather than a single appointment. We recommend a plan after your consultation and reassess your progress before deciding whether further treatment is worthwhile.

Can Sculptra treat every area of the face?

No. Not every area or concern suits Sculptra. We assess your anatomy and explain which areas, if any, are appropriate.

Is Sculptra better than dermal filler?

Neither is better across the board. They work differently and do different jobs. The right choice depends on your anatomy, your concerns and the result you want, and some plans use both at different stages.

Can I combine Sculptra with other treatments?

For some patients, Sculptra is one part of a wider facial rejuvenation plan alongside skin quality treatments. If that’s right for you, we’ll explain how and when different treatments can be sensibly staged.

Start with a Sculptra consultation

You don’t need to decide whether Sculptra is right for you before you come in. That’s what the consultation is for. If Sculptra suits you, we’ll build a personalised plan. If another approach would work better, we’ll explain why.

Your face. Your plan. Your pace.
