Composite Bonding in Archway, North London
Composite bonding in Archway with Dr Sanyukta Kothari at Blue Light Dental. We use a tooth-coloured composite to reshape chips, close small gaps, soften worn edges and balance front teeth — usually in a single visit, with no drilling required. Results look natural, the treatment is fully reversible, and the practice sits at 662-664 Holloway Road in N19, a short walk from Archway tube.
Composite bonding is one of the most versatile and popular cosmetic dental treatments — using a tooth-coloured resin to reshape, resurface and restore teeth in as little as a single appointment. The results look completely natural, and the treatment is entirely reversible, making it a low-risk way to dramatically improve your smile.
At Blue Light Dental & Aesthetic Clinic, all bonding work is carried out by Dr Sanyukta Kothari, who combines an artistic eye with meticulous clinical skill to create results that look beautiful, not artificial.
What can composite bonding treat?
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Small gaps or spaces between teeth
- Stained or discoloured teeth that don’t respond to whitening
- Worn, short or misshapen teeth
- Uneven edges or an irregular gum line appearance
What to expect
Treatment usually requires no anaesthetic and involves minimal or no removal of tooth structure. The composite resin is applied, carefully sculpted to shape, then hardened with a curing light and polished to a high shine. Most cases are completed in one to two hours.

Composite bonding vs porcelain veneers
Bonding is reversible, faster, and more affordable than porcelain veneers — but veneers are more durable and more resistant to staining over time. At your consultation, we’ll explain which option is best suited to your specific goals and tooth condition.

Frequently asked questions
How long does composite bonding last? With good oral hygiene and regular maintenance appointments, composite bonding typically lasts 5–7 years before needing a refresh.
Can I whiten my teeth first? Yes — we recommend whitening before bonding so the composite can be matched to your new, brighter shade.

How long does composite bonding last?
Composite bonding typically lasts five to seven years before it needs a polish or top-up, depending on lifestyle. Patients who avoid heavy coffee, red wine and curry — and who don’t bite their nails or open packets with their teeth — tend to get the longest service. Touch-up appointments are quick (usually 20 to 30 minutes) and inexpensive compared with the original treatment.
What happens at the appointment
A typical composite bonding session at Blue Light Dental runs 90 minutes to two hours, depending on how many teeth are being treated. We start by cleaning and lightly etching the tooth surface so the composite bonds reliably, then place the composite by hand in thin layers, sculpting it to the shape we agreed at the consultation. The final stage — and the one that makes the biggest visual difference — is shaping and polishing, which is what gives composite bonding its glossy, lifelike finish.
More questions we get asked
Will I need anaesthetic? In most cases no. Composite bonding is an additive treatment — we are layering material onto the tooth, not removing it — so it usually does not need numbing.
Can I have a single tooth bonded, or only the full smile line? Either works. Many patients come in for a single chipped tooth; others want the full upper smile reshaped. Both are routine.
Will the bonding look obvious? Not when done well. We blend multiple shades of composite to match your existing teeth and use a high-gloss polish for the final finish. Most people would not be able to tell the difference.
Is composite bonding reversible? Yes — because the original tooth surface is preserved (no enamel removed in most cases), the bonding can be removed and the tooth restored to its original shape if you ever want that.
If you’ve chipped a tooth and need urgent care first, see our emergency dentist in Archway page — bonding can often be done in the same visit.
